Funded Programs
MakerSpace
Concordia's Makerspace encourages increased interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Makerspace contains elements of technology, art, design, wood/metal shop, science lab, and more. Students’ recent Makerspace projects include tie-dying shirts for the PTA’s annual Jog-a-thon, constructing decorations for the Splash Foundation’s annual Splash Bash auction, and building haunted houses for the PTA’s Trunk or Treat Haunted House contest. Marine Ocean Lab
Concordia has a new Marine Ocean lab! Several Concordia teachers have collaborated with Marine Biologist, Conservationist, and Scientist, Nancy Caruso, to build a 3-tank Marine ocean/biology lab enabling Concordia students to help restore California’s threatened abalone population. Tanks were installed in time for the 2025/26 5th grade students to immediately begin establishing the appropriate salt and bacteria levels in preparation for fostering abalone with the hopes of releasing off of our own San Clemente coastline. All grade levels will have access to the lab and eventually, this project will be expanded to enable additional grades to participate.
Science Night
Science Night is an interactive family event where students and parents participate in STEM activities and experiments. From building simple machines to exploring the wonders of chemistry, families bond while sparking curiosity and fostering a love for science in a hands-on educational setting.
Science Camp
Each year, the Splash Foundation and PTA partner to give all 5th grade students the chance to attend a 3-day Science Camp. Since CUSD does not fund this field trip, Splash and the PTA work together to ensure no child is turned away due to financial hardship, making this unforgettable experience accessible to every 5th grader.
Robotics
Concordia’s Robotics Club was started in 2023 and is growing in popularity! Students meet in the iCan Lab 2-3 days per week, during/after lunch, to work on their projects. Current robotics kits include Vex IQ, Vex GO, Aperture, Robot X, Lego Education Spike Essentials, and even Marty the Robot! Check out @concordia_creates on Instagram!
Teacher Grants & Training
The Splash Foundation stays in close communication with Concordia teachers and staff via teacher liaisons and the Funding Request Process. Recent initiatives include the purchase of 9 Interactive Touch Displays for grades 3-5, a 3-tank Marine Ocean/Biology lab for a California abalone-restoration project, books for a 5th grade reading program, a UCI math teacher training, a UFLI K-3 reading program, iCan Lab furniture, and Imagination Machine assemblies.
Campus Enhancements
The Splash Foundation works along-side the PTA to fund projects that enhance the Concordia campus. Recent projects include the installation of security cameras, new outdoor tables, a Gaga Ball court, the Marquee for the front of the school, and several vibrant art murals by DJ Javier.
